Tessa: I'm totally gonna find that Simpsons clip and blog it later.
Uh, did I just say that out loud?
John: Yeah, that's like blogging in real time.

Gmail - Inbox - tessagoldsmith
Yesterday I managed to empty my main gmail inbox so that I have ZERO unread messages! For almost a year, I’ve had two lingering unread emails that had gotten buried beyond the point of realistically searching for them. Even when I read every new message, my inbox would still read: Inbox (2) There wasn’t any obvious way to find these emails. But here is how I finally did it with help...

Dubai: 1990 and 2007
Neale just posted about the ridiculous speed at which Dubai has risen out of the desert with mega-projects compounding upon mega-projects to form a kind of sea-monkey Disney City catering to the pleasure-seeking exploitative dreams of rich business people— well ok, those are my thoughts. I like the photo story he links to, Dubai is Nuts (which I took these photos from) for its depiction of the...

Oh Sweet Honey
This is a post to tell you, Maud, that what I am doing tonight is reading your blog and being very pleased by your writing. And to tell you, others, that you might want to read Maud’s blog. Regardless of the outcome of the American election, we’ve got a room available in our apartment starting Dec 1st, just fyi. Though if Obama loses, we might start converting the place into a bunker...

Long day
You know when you’re so tired that your head aches and it feels like your heel bones are scraping the ground and your voice sounds like a weak foreign warble and your arms weigh too much to not be dragged? That’s how tired I am right now. Conor posted some new songs on the Fixture blog, previews of an album coming out next week. I’m listening to these and drinking Licorice Spice...

Thanksgiving
was really nice this year. I went to two dinners, Sunday and Monday. Yesterday, me and Marilis had a yardsale. I made about $40 and got rid of a lot of clothes. Today, I’m warming up thanksgiving mashed potatoes for breakfast and getting the right papers together to vote after work. Info on where and how to vote in Canada is here.

Today is that day. Over, say, the last 6 months I’ve developed a collection of accents for talking to certain people that I’m really close with. My most common accents are: -fake Australian (but actually more South African) -Emma Thompson British -working class older British woman They’re kind of out of control. And I’ve been using them more than my actual voice. So...

Without a doubt, the best thing I've done all day
is make squash soup. I’m not one for recipes, so here’s a list of ingredients. Do what you will. butternut squash, very much in season and cheap right now grated carrots grated apples, from my applepicking trip grated ginger, tons of it yellow curry spices: coriander, cumin, tumeric, cayenne, nutmeg almond butter (also try peanut butter or coconut milk) lemon juice, salt, and...
