"It seems as though by the early to mid ‘70s it had grown to such an extent that you were either playing in stadiums or you were just playing in a bar, covers of bands that play in stadiums. So there was no middle ground where you could just be an artist, making a living in a rock band, doing your own work. It had developed in such a way that there was only huge bands. And that’s where punk rock came along."
